At Kimberley Park Dental Practice, our preventative migraine treatment can help to relieve the pain of migraines and headaches in patients for up to several months at a time.
Treatment duration:
Two initial 15 minute treatments, 12 weeks apart
Teeth grinding, jaw clenching, or a misaligned jaw can trigger headaches and severe migraines, resulting in fatigue and spasms. Preventative migraine treatment can help to block chemicals called neurotransmitters from carrying pain signals from your brain; stopping the chemicals before they get to the nerve endings around your head and neck. At Kimberley Park Dental Practice, we offer chronic migraine treatment over at least 2 sessions to help relieve the pain of migraines and headaches in patients.
If you suffer from chronic and persistent migraines or headaches and other treatments you’ve tried haven’t been successful, you may be suitable for this treatment.
A little bit! The treatment needles we use are very fine and most people experience minimal bleeding or swelling, but your experienced practitioner will take you through what to expect at your treatment.
Depending on how you respond, migraine treatment is initially recommended every three months. However, the frequency of treatments should decrease over time.
The treatment helps to block chemicals called neurotransmitters from carrying pain signals from your brain. The transmission of pain through the nerve fibres is reduced, resulting in fewer headaches and migraines in many people.
The treatment is given via a series of injections using a very fine needle, into the muscles in and around the head and the forehead, above the ears, and into the neck and shoulders.
