Teeth grinding, jaw clenching, or a misaligned jaw can trigger headaches and severe migraines, resulting in fatigue and spasms. Preventative migraine treatment can help to block chemicals called neurotransmitters from carrying pain signals from your brain; stopping the chemicals before they get to the nerve endings around your head and neck. At Kimberley Park Dental Practice, we offer chronic migraine treatment over at least 2 sessions to help relieve the pain of migraines and headaches in patients.
Chronic migraines are defined as headaches on at least 15 days per month, of which at least 8 days are with a migraine. Living this way can be a debilitating experience, and stop you from being able to live and function the way you want (and need) to. If you suffer from chronic migraines and no other treatment has worked for you, migraine treatment at Kimberley Park Dental Practice could be a great option for you; helping to reduce the symptoms of migraines, how often you have them, and how severe they are for up to three months at a time.

Treatment one
You’ll come in for your first migraine treatment which will take around 15 minutes to complete, and the treatment generally takes two weeks two weeks’ (14 days) to take effect. Most patients feel a noticeable difference in the frequency of their migraines and headaches within the first month of treatment, with the exception of chronic migraines, which usually take more than 4 weeks to noticeably improve.

Your second treatment will take place 12 weeks after your first treatment, and it’s important to stick to this schedule in order to see the full effects of the treatment. After 24 weeks (12 weeks after your second treatment), you should feel the full benefits of the treatment, and see a noticeable improvement in the frequency and severity of your migraines.

Depending on how you respond, migraine treatment is initially recommended every three months. However, the frequency of treatments should decrease over time.
The treatment helps to block chemicals called neurotransmitters from carrying pain signals from your brain. The transmission of pain through the nerve fibres is reduced, resulting in fewer headaches and migraines in many people.
The treatment is given via a series of injections using a very fine needle, into the muscles in and around the head and the forehead, above the ears, and into the neck and shoulders.
