Dr Andrew Rowley BDS

BDS (Bristol) 2014, BSc Anatomical sciences (Bristol)2009, ILM Leadership and Management
GDC Reg  251481

Methodical, detail oriented, and focused on achieving the best outcome, Dr Rowley likes to explain the details to his patients as he goes, so they feel fully involved in their treatment and are totally comfortable with every decision. Dr Rowley loves the technical challenge of dentistry; finding solutions to patients wants and needs and wants to create a smile that will help to change their lives.

Outside of the practice, you’ll find Dr Rowley kickboxing and taking long walks around Cornwall, socialising with friends, cooking and baking (and eating the results), and learning new skills. Even though he can’t swim, Dr Rowley loves the coast (just not going into the water) and he bought a wetsuit just so people would stop asking him why he lives in Cornwall and doesn’t own one!
Dr Rowley specialises in:

  • Enlighten and Pola Teeth Whitening
  • SmileTru and Reveal clear aligners
  • CFast cosmetic teeth straightening
  • Injectable treatments for migraines and facial aesthetics
  • General dentistry with a focus on complex restorative crown and bridge work

Dr Rikesh Chandarana

BDS (University of Plymouth), MFDS (RCSed)
GDC Reg 277463

Dentist

Rik has found it impossible to leave Cornwall since graduating from the Peninsula Dental School in Plymouth. He has spent the past 4 years working in the Oral and Maxillofacial department at The Royal Cornwall Hospital, predominantly involved with the removal of complex wisdom teeth and oral lesions. Rik continues to spend a portion of his working week at the hospital, alongside fellow associate Alicia, who together are able to provide confident oral surgery for the practice.

Rik’s work encompasses general dentistry, with a focus on oral surgery and implantology. Rik’s is pleased to be able to offer implant treatment for single and multiple missing teeth, areas requiring bone grafting and implant-retained prosthetics.

Rik takes great pride in providing dental treatment with a personal touch whilst maintaining a professional approach. Always taking the time to listen to a patient's concerns and explaining the available options before supporting them through the treatment, he loves getting to know his patients. A self-confessed extrovert, Rik's friendly demeanour helps create a relaxed and welcoming environment in Practice.

Rik (and his cat Morris) are quite at home here, although he does dream of one day travelling the world (so long as he can scuba dive!). Outside of work, Dr Chandarana can generally be found underwater in his diving gear or in the pub supporting Chelsea (other football supporters are also welcome at Kimberley Park!)

Support team

Dental nurse

Beth Jones

GDC No. 283840

Beth splits her time between working as a dental nurse and supporting front of house duties; supporting and looking after patients throughout their journey, problem solving, and coordinating patient treatments. Beth loves the social aspect of working with patients and her fellow staff, helping patients with their needs in surgery and on the front desk, and watching the dentists work their magic!

Outside of the practice, you’ll find Beth at the gym, reading, taking walks around Cornwall, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Don’t tell the dentists, but Beth’s guilty pleasure is Sour Skittles, and she likes to treat herself to avocado on toast with baked beans and ketchup. If you see Beth at the practice, ask her about her pink electric guitar – she might play some air tunes for you.

Clinical manager

Nicola Hutchings

GDC Reg 157765

Nicola meets and greets patients as they arrive, answers any questions they have, and organises future appointments. Her calm and friendly nature helps to put our patients at ease, and she loves the patient contact and working with her team to help people achieve great results. Nicola also makes sure every patient has a safe experience; keeping the surgery fully stocked, liaising with suppliers, and managing contracts, health and safety, decontamination, and infection control.

Outside of the practice, you’ll find Nicola quad biking, kayaking, and walking, and she was once part of a 2-man powerboat team in the Guernsey Powerboat Association 1995 season, racing in a catamaran called ‘Lubbly Jubbly Bubbly’!

Practice Manager

Thomas McCann

As someone who thrives on constructive and positive feedback in order to ensure Kimberley Park delivers the best possible dental experience, Thomas takes overall responsibility for assuring the smooth and meticulous running of the practice.

Getting a genuine buzz from seeing and implementing positive change to improve the patient journey, he is currently overseeing the seamless extension and refurbishment plans for the practice - due to be carried out at some point this year.

Thomas loves being part of the exceptional team at Kimberley Park, feeling privileged to work alongside them. When he’s not at work, he likes to be in the sea, in the gym or generally just outdoors, with his two cockapoos, Bailey and Greg (the other loves of his life aside from dentistry!)

A self-confessed night owl who even goes to the gym in the middle of the night if sleep evades him, Thomas has also been known to do overnight photography of the Milky Way on top of mountains. And if he had a week off work to do anything at all, he would spend it hiking through Switzerland and the Swiss Alps with his two pups.

Deputy Team Leader

Sam Higginson

As the Deputy Team Leader at Kimberley Park, Sam Higginson is often the first point of contact for our patients, offering a warm welcome and a reassuring voice over the phone. With a keen focus on patient interaction, Sam excels in creating a welcoming and engaging environment, ensuring every visit is as seamless and comfortable as possible. Understanding the anxieties that can accompany a dentist visit, he takes pride in easing these concerns, assisting patients with their queries, and guiding them through their dental journey from start to finish.

What Sam loves most about his role is the opportunity to connect with people. He finds immense satisfaction in making a positive difference in their experience, emphasising the importance of a warm greeting and a reassuring presence. Outside of work, Sam is a passionate miniature painter, boasting an impressive collection of both figures and analogue cameras.

His free time is devoted to his family—his daughter and partner—and indulging in his hobbies in his well-equipped hobby room. A unique blend of creativity and precision defines both his professional and personal life. An interesting tidbit about Sam is his culinary curiosity, with cow tongue nuggets ranking as his favourite unusual treat. If given a week off work without any financial constraints, he dreams of retreating to a mountainside cabin, where he can immerse himself in painting and photography amidst the tranquillity of nature. And for those moments of indulgence, nothing beats the simple pleasure of fizzy sweets for Sam.

With his blend of empathy, artistic flair, and dedication to patient care, Sam is an invaluable part of the Kimberley Park team, ensuring every patient feels at home the moment they step through our doors.

Dental nurses

Dental nurse

Jane Laity

Level 3 in dental nursing
GDC No.  283588

Jane likes nothing more than helping to make patients feel welcome and relaxed when they come for a check-up or treatment at Kimberley Park. Intent on changing their perception about visiting the dentist, Jane is a friendly face on the dental team, helping to make the practice a calm environment where everyone is happy.

When not at work, Jane’s happy place is the beach. A sun worshipper, she makes sure she gets a healthy dose of vitamin sea whenever she can, whether it’s walking the dog, spending time with her husband or braving the elements for a spot of sea swimming.

If she weren’t a dental nurse, Jane could quite possibly pass for a barber - although having used dog clippers rather than scissors on her family’s hair during lockdown, perhaps pet grooming would be more her forte!

Dental nurse

Jan Merrifield

NEBDN
GDC No. 116226

Jan has been a registered dental nurse for 34 years, so she truly has seen it all! Jan enjoys being the friendly face who collects patients from the waiting room and having a quick chat before treatment starts to put patients at ease, and assists with dental treatments at Kimberley Park Dental.

Outside of the practice, you’ll find Jan walking in beautiful Cornwall with her husband and two daughters. Jan loves the smell of Easter egg chocolate (who doesn’t?), watching “A Place in the Sun”, and eating peanut butter and banana sandwiches – a combo that everyone should try!
